We raised an amazing £504.74, Special thanks must be made to all our staff and service users who chanted and got everyone joining in and donating their hard earned money to support our service.

Mind are the charity partners for the English Football League (the EFL).

With over 21 million fans attending EFL matches each season (and 55 million watching on TV), this partnership is an amazing opportunity to promote awareness and understanding of mental health amongst football fans, and to help more people living with mental health problems access the support they need.

Together with the EFL, we'll harness the power of football to raise awareness of mental health, improve the approach to mental health in sport and raise funds to deliver life changing national and local support.

World Mental Health Day

Wednesday 10th October 2018

World Mental Health day - On October 10th 2018, Daventry Mind held a professional open day. This gave organisations across South Northants the chance to understand the services Northampton and District Mind has on offer; raising awareness of men's mental health and the challenges that are faced everyday.

Members of Daventry Mind, recited their own poetry which was written about their own personal journey and recovery through mental health struggles. They also highlighted the importance of talking about mental health and keeping this vital topic at the forefront of discussions. Thankyou to all those organisations and members who came to support us on World Mental Health Day.

The 'Mind' Festival

The Northampton and District Mind team, would like to take this opportunity to thank ALL of those who took time out of their peaceful Sunday, to attend one of the most successful Northampton and District Mind fundraisers to date.

A local Northampton business 'Vintage Retreat', hosted the Sunday extravaganza and the event went down a storm. With small businesses showcasing their products designed to enhance mind, body and soul, to listening to the acoustic sounds of talented musicians; the day was filled with a diverse mix of wonderfulness.

The tombola and raffle stalls enthralled the most competitive customers and the cake stand was perfect for those with a sweet tooth. Paintings produced by one of our very own talented mental health navigators, alongside the calming effects of the Art therapy stall, encouraged individuals with a creative side, to try their hand at mixing relaxation and imagination.

However, the highlights of the day in this fantastic show of solidarity, was witnessing the amazing Northampton and District Mind choir; empowered to deliver a number of beautiful songs to a packed out room. Additionally, it was a privilege to be invited to witness a courageous individual, deliver an emotive speech about their 'real life' experiences of their own mental health challenges and how they are now powering through to the other side. There was not a dry eye in the room!!

Businesses and individuals from all over the county showed their support for mental health services; helping individuals to recognise and understand the importance of ensuring the topic of mental health, is at the forefront of government discussions, and at the top of the list for funding. Unfortunately, the recent to government cuts to funding has meant that it is more important than ever, to spread mental health awareness, so that we can ALL support those who are struggling, and find ways to help them cope when access to appropriate services are made unavailable .

A massive thankyou to all who supported us on the day. Special thanks goes to 'The loving chef, Aromatouch, Himalayan wellbeing, Aunt Normas, Tropic, Emma Brockhurst, Dan and Peter and so many more ………..

Saturday 15th September 2018

The funds raised will be used to support men in the local community with their mental health and wellbeing.

Friday the 7th of September, saw "THE FIRST EVER" ladies night fundraiser, in aid of Northampton and District Mind, at Monica's Cocktail Bar in Northampton.

The night got off to a great start, with a complimentary glass of bubbly prosecco and a dancefloor filled with excited ladies. Music and giggles made for a great party atmosphere with people from all walks of life, dancing and laughing with each other as if they had known each other for years.

The highlight of the night was of course the 'dancers', with special guest Lotan Carter, made famous for his stint on UK Big Brother 2017. While not forgetting the absolutely gorgeous, spectacular and hilarious 'Jade Justine', providing just the right amount of insults and jokes that had the audience howling in their seats.

What made the night even more special, was the vast amount of authentic empathy and interest, every single person had about the subject of mental health. Not one person in the room had been without some kind of mental health challenges at some point in their lives, either by experiencing it themselves or knowing someone who lives with Mental illness everyday.

The team at Northampton and District Mind would like to thank all at Eyecandi and Monicas Cocktail Bar for their ongoing support.

Open Day

at Northampton Mind

On Thursday 12th June we held one of our professional open days, with our greatest turn-out to date. Groups of Individuals from more than 12 organisations across the district came along to find out who Northampton Mind are and what we do.

We were incredibly happy with the support these organisations showed us on the day and hope that everyone enjoyed their time with us and feels confident to become our greatest champions in supporting us to ensure local people have access to better mental health support.

5 Reasons why the open day was a success!!

1: Multi agency collaboration

Support works better when agencies speak to each other. By building strong relationships with a range of services and organisations, we know support can reach those that need it most. We welcomed people from Northampton Police, Aquarius, Bridge, DWP, NHS staff; from nurses to secondary care services, Northamptonshire Adult social Services and secondary schools such as the Northampton Academy to name a few.

2: Real People, Real Experiences

We opened up our service to showcase the activities and work we do here at Mind. We ran Mindfulness sessions facilitated by our own staff, our wonderful members' choir performed to a packed room with songs from Coldplay to Emelie Sande.

One of our most valuable events from the day was having 2 of our members from Mind bravely stand up and discuss their experiences of living with a mental illness and how the right support has really enabled them to move forward with living their best life.

3: Showcasing our services

We opened up our service to showcase the activities and work we do here at Mind. We ran Mindfulness sessions facilitated by our own staff, our wonderful members' choir performed to a packed room with songs from Coldplay to Emelie Sande.

One of our most valuable events from the day was having 2 of our members from Mind bravely stand up and discuss their experiences of living with a mental illness and how the right support has really enabled them to move forward with living their best life.

4: Motivational Speaker - Ife Thomas

The highlight of our day was hosting the incredible Ife Thomas from Mind Workout. Ife has lived an incredible life to date and was generous enough with her time to come and talk at our open day. We are doubtful anyone left the room not feeling empowered, inspired and motivated to live our best life! Find out more about the great work Ife Thomas does by visiting her website https://mindworkout.co.uk/  we are sure you will not be disappointed!

5: Let them eat cake!

Does an event even exist if there isn't delicious cake?! One of our students Claire put on her baking apron and made some fantastic 'Mind Cupcakes' which went down a treat! Whilst food was served in our main kitchen, guests were serenaded by our choir upstairs!

We want to say a massive THANK YOU!! to all that attended our open day, your support and interest in the work we do is greatly appreciated and we hope you all left with a goody bag!

To our staff, student and volunteers, THANK YOU! Without your efforts this day could not have been the roaring success that it was.

Time to clear away the banners, vacuum the cake crumbs and get back to what we do best, support our people! Business as usual here at Northampton and District Mind.
